Raven 164: Affectionate Acceptance

Whatever arises, welcome it. If impatience arises, welcome it. If anxiety arises, welcome it. If the thought that you should be getting somewhere arises, welcome that, too, but don't believe it.

Case

In a private encounter with Raven, Badger said, "I confess that after all this time, I feel very impatient with my zazen."
Raven said, "That's OK."
Badger said, "I have the feeling that if I weren't so anxious, I might get somewhere."
Raven said, "Affectionate acceptance is the way of all the Ancestors."
